LOVE MAY WELL be blind, but in some instances you could argue it’s unconsciously narcissistic as well. Just compare and contrast the results of Ed. de la Torre’s ongoing series of same-sex couples, Eyes In The same Direction. According to LA-based de la Torre, each partner is photographed separately, then the image of one is cut in half and placed over the other, with no digital manipulation involved. “For me this ‘new face’ is representative of the challenges and joys of making a relationship work,” opines de la Torre. “They become strangely magical, mystical representations of love.”
